Kentucky Allows Unlicensed Adjusters in Three Counties After Storms Batter State

Unlicensed adjusters can work in three Kentucky counties once they register on temporary basis, the state’s insurance commissioner decreed after wind events caused serious damage in the northern part of the state.

“The commissioner is allowing temporary registration for unlicensed, emergency adjusters to operate within Daviess, Jefferson, and Oldham Counties,” a March 19 Department of Insurance bulletin reads.

The notice follows the tornadoes, wind, and thunderstorms that hit in and around Louisville, Owensboro and other areas in northern Kentucky on March 15. Homes, apartment complexes and other properties were damaged, according to news reports. Another tornado watch was issued Thursday for the Louisville area and much of central and western Kentucky.

Companies seeking to register emergency adjusters must submit a Form 8307 “Request for Unlicensed Adjusters” to the department, using the eServices portal for approval.
