3 Key Exec Roles Filled in Everest Wholesale Business; Willis Appoints Merker to Lead P/C Broking Sales

Everest of Warren, New Jersey, made three key leadership appointments to the company’s U.S. wholesale business, Everest Evolution.

Matt Meserole

Matt Meserole has been named head of excess casualty, overseeing the strategic direction and underwriting performance of the Everest Evolution Excess Casualty business. A proven leader known for attracting top industry talent, Mr. Meserole has been pivotal to the company’s excess casualty organization and to launching the excess casualty offering for U.S. wholesale customers. Prior to Everest, Meserole was a production underwriter at All Risks.

Adam Birch

Adam Birch has been appointed head of industry specialties. Birch will lead the strategic growth of Everest Evolution’s construction and energy industry-focused segments while maintaining his role as central region distribution leader for U.S. Wholesale customers. A recognized E&S market leader, Birch previously held senior underwriting positions of increasing responsibility at Lexington Insurance and Argo Group.

Cristin McCarthy

Cristin McCarthy has been appointed head of excess construction. Known for delivering consistent, high-quality solutions for construction broker partners, McCarthy joined Everest from Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she held increasingly senior roles in excess construction underwriting.

Willis Appoints Merker to P/C and AAIS Leadership Teams in North America

Willis, a WTW business based in New York City, appointed Harry Merker as property and casualty (P/C) cross-industry sales leader and alternative asset insurance solutions (AAIS) sales, strategy and execution leader for North America.

Harry Merker

In this newly created dual role, Merker drives broking growth initiatives across Willis’ P/C business and leads strategic broking sales efforts and collaboration across the company’s 12 industry verticals. He works closely with actuarial and analytics teams to evolve AAIS offerings and create tailored solutions for private equity firms and portfolio companies.

Merker has 20 years of experience in commercial insurance and broking, most recently serving as chief broking officer – middle market at Aon, a role he assumed after leading the firm’s East and South regions within the same practice. Based in New York, Merker will report to Aartie Manansingh, head of alternative asset insurance solutions, North America, and will also be part of the property and casualty leadership team.
